Viewing and editing property classes

You can view existing property classes and edit the class codes, descriptions, and the education support values applicable to each class. Property classes and applicable education support values are defined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). They are added and maintained in the Property Tax application by your municipality.

Note:  The tax year can only be set when adding new property classes, not when editing existing classes. However, you can copy existing classes to a future year. For more information about copying property classes, refer to Copying property classes.

To view and edit property classes:

  1. From the menu, select Property Tax > Configuration > Property Classes. For more information about navigation, refer to Navigating Property Tax.
  2. Locate the row for the property class and, next to the tax year, select Ellipses icon, and then select Edit. The Edit Property Class page appears. For more information about grids, refer to Working with grids.
  3. To change the property class code, in the Property Class field, enter the two letter code defined by MPAC.
  4. To change the description, in the Description field, enter the description.
  5. To change the education support values assigned to the property class, under Education Support, select one or more values that apply to this property class as defined by MPAC.

Tip:  If you are using a device with a physical keyboard, hold down Ctrl to select multiple non-consecutive items or Shift to select multiple consecutive items.

  6. Select Save.
